Book 1: The Philosopher’s Stone
Harry has to live with his muggle parents who are downright terrible. But then letters start arriving by owls addressed to Harry. His parents don’t let him read them as more and more letters continue showing up. Finally, Hagrid comes and takes Harry to a real magic school. He and his friends, Ron and Hermione, soon figure out that there’s an object that is hidden and somebody’s trying to steal it. Will he get there in time or will the evil person get there first?
This book has humor (lots from Ron), good magic, and awesome battles. I like this book because it’s very different from all the other books that I’ve read. It’s got cool games (like Quidditch), and funny prank shops. My favorite part is when Harry, Ron, and Hermione were looking for the stone. They had to go through obstacles to get there. Another one of my favorite parts is when Harry got selected into the Gryffindor house. There are four different houses, Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. When you come to Hogwarts, which is the magic school, you get selected into a house that fits you best or one of your parents was in that house.
This book is the first of a seven book series.
Eragon finds a cool blue stone in the forest and wonders if he can sell it. But a few days later it hatches into a dragon. He must care for his dragon, and go on a quest with the storyteller Brom to defeat the Razac and join the Varden. But the empire wants him at his side. Can he make it to the Varden alive or will the Razac stop him in his tracks?
In the first book of the series, Percy Jackson figures out he’s not a normal kid, he’s a demigod. Now he has to go on a quest with Annabeth and Grover to get Zeus’ lightning bolt back. Will he make it back alive?
